Altar of Sacrifice

We, who are in Christ; first, have become a community of believers, worldwide. We are called to be a sweet and pleasant fragrance for the King. The fragrance personifies our acts of obedience, our will to trust beyond reason, and our heartfelt hope in Him, when none is found. Intertwined as one, these expressions are meant to burn out the impurities of the soul, leaving nothing tainted. This then allows everything that has turned beautiful in the soul to release a sweet aroma for our Creator and King. Our human essence is now the well from which the wafts of sweet fragrances are emitted. We’ve taken the place of Isaac, and dare not move from where He has placed us.

Some of us have relinquished our rights to our lives and have set down our agendas. We are devoted to what He’s asked us to do, regardless of how big or small our task for Him may be. We chose the path of obedience. Hesitation no longer restrains our embrace of obedience, even while walking through the fiery trials from the past. Anticipation has now become our stepping stone as He begins to reveal His glory in us. A precursor we learnt; the well-worn path of choosing to forgive so that we retain the aroma that is pleasing to God.

Regardless of the task we accept and the fiery tests that will come, we know how our King controls the temperature of the fire. He increases the heat and reduces it while that trial melts the impurities of those who choose to yield to a process of testing. Sometimes, the test provokes fear, anxiety or confusion. We are human clay and given the breath of life from the Creator. He is sufficient to calm us, refresh us, and restore us in the midst of any fiery ordeal. He is faithful regardless of our fragile emotions which appear to want to overcome us.

In the tension of hope and hopelessness, we are forged into His image. When we let hopelessness overcome us, He remains to ease the pain from yesterday. He seeks to re-frame the views we beheld as truth in our youth. What was once misunderstood, He causes to be understood, through, and by, the altar of sacrifice which was once used with animal sacrifices.

Today, all who are sealed with His name take the place of animals and fire that were used to create sweet and soothing aromas for the God of glory. Now, we are that aroma as we remain in the place of sacrifice and become His sweet smelling fragrances, and are filled with the traits of His image.

Colossians 2:10 (Passion Translation)  And our own completeness is now found in him. We are completely filled with God as Christ’s fullness overflows within us. He is the Head of every kingdom and authority in the universe!

Psalm 50:5 (Passion Translation) Gather all my lovers, my godly ones whose hearts are one with me-those who have entered into my holy covenant by sacrifices upon the altar.

Numbers 28:6  (Amplified Translation) It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai for a sweet and soothing odor, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
